HIRING SALARY RANGE:  $88,458.00 - $99,516.00 per annum

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE:  $110,573.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Coordinator, Centralized Programs, ensures the provision of quality recreation program delivery and customer service excellence to meet current and changing needs of the community. Business distinctions include:

SUPERVISION, LEADERSHIP AND STAFF DEVELOPMENT

  • Recruit, train, manage, coach and provide guidance to promote effective full and part time employee relations and encourage increased moral, innovation and productivity to meet business needs
  • Form action plans to ensure program quality assurance and financial accuracies
  • Manage adherence to governing legislations and regulations; corporate policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
  • Evaluate training needs, and manage execution of staff trainings, orientations and meetings
  • Ensure current self-knowledge of technical skills for staff development

 

ADMINISTRATION

  • Lead the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) program portfolio through the initiation, development and management of STEAM programs and related initiatives
  • Provide oversight of various community outreach programs (e.g. Fit Kids & Water Safety, Drowning Prevention Team) including the recruitment, training, scheduling and management of part-time staff
  • Prepare reports for Recreation Supervisor which may include the collection and analysis of data, customer satisfaction, revenue and expenses, etc.
  • Participate in long-range calendar and operational planning discussions to ensure the effective scheduling of programs and initiatives
  • Cultivate applicable grant funding opportunities
  • Adherence to all mandated deadlines
  • Coordinate payments/documentation for all invoices in accordance to corporate standards

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

  • Continuous improvement of customer experience through anticipating, managing and resolving concerns, requests inquires and successes
  • Liaise with community leaders, groups, sponsors and external groups
  • Ongoing assessment of community needs
  • Manage community events (including analyzing follow-up reports and debriefing)
  • Develop strategies to increase customer recruitment and retention

 

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Lead the planning, coordination and execution of programs
  • Define and track metrics that will support the successful execution, delivery and improvement of programs
  • Manage quality programming through ongoing program visits
  • Manage brochure development processes related to programs
  • Develop project plans to support the successful development, implementation and execution of programs and initiatives
  • Provide on-going review of community outreach initiatives to ensure accuracy of program content and continuous enhancement
  • Assist in the management of internal marketing of programs within community centres

 

BUDGET SUPPORT

  • Provide budget input related to programs and initiatives
  • Build revenue strategies to increase financial stability
  • Provide support through the monitoring of budget expenditures including part-time labour and outside services
  • Collect, coordinate, analyze, monitor and report budget submissions, actuals and forecast to Supervisor
  • Manage current budget of expenditures related to program area ensure budget compliance meet necessary sign offs and approvals

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Provides supervisory leadership to support staff and volunteers, including hiring, training, development, motivation and performance management
  • Accountable for daily supervision of support staff and volunteers and the smooth operation of community recreation programs within a designated community area

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma preferably in related field (i.e. Recreation & Leisure, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Education, Business Administration)

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 year’s experience in recreation programming and/or facility management
  • Proven experience in marketing and campaign development are assets.
  • One year supervisory/team lead experience working with staff and volunteers

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Able to work variable, scheduled hours including evenings and weekends
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C
  • Valid Ontario non-probationary Class G Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle
  • Excellent public relations skills and ability to effectively deal with the public
  • Knowledge of provincial and other legislative regulations pertinent to program discipline
  • Exposure to budgeting and financial management
  • Exposure to project management
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proficiency in Recreation Software (Xplor Recreation) is an asset
  • LEAN White belt training or higher is an asset to improve business capabilities
