JOB STATUS & DURATION: 24 hour workweek / variable hours / flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required

HOURLY RATE: $17.20

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

 

Reporting to the League Conevenor, responsible for communicating with league officials; recording statistics and managing the time clock; assisting in the delivery and operation of a comprehensive recreation program. Under the direction of the Program Supervisor and League Convenor, the successful candidate will be responsible for communicating with league officials, recording statistics, and managing the time clock. Candidate will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive recreation program, as developed by the Recreation Division to meet the needs of all the participants and to ensure adequate safety during league play specifically.

 

Position Duties:

  • Support the objectives and philosophies of the specified league program through quality recording and excellent public and staff relations.

  • Accurate completion of administrative duties (ie. Complete game sheets, record statistics, conduct site safety checks, equipment inventory, set up score clock and related equipment).

  • Adhere to all program policies and standards as they relate to program content and delivery.

  • Effectively provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to participants, volunteers, and fellow staff.

  • In a timely manner, communicate and issues/information that could impact the quality and safe delivery of the program to the Manager on Duty (MOD) or direct supervisor.

  • Attend and participate in trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.

  • Perform emergency procedures as required

  • Complete all mandatory online e-learning modules

  • Read, understand and abide by all Divisional Standards, Corporate Policies & Procedures, including Human Resources Policies, Respectful Employee Conduct, Health &

  • Safety Regulations and Freedom of Information Act.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of skating experience
  • Exceptional experience as an Instructor with the City of Brampton in the Learn to Skate program or teaching with other skate affiliates/agencies (Skate Canada CanSkate, municipal skate programs)

  • Experience in Hockey, Figure Skating, and/or Power Skating or ability to skate at an advanced level (Forward Skating, Backward Skating, Turns, Inside/Outside Edges,
    Stops, Jumps and Crossovers)

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • The successful candidate must be enrolled in or have a Secondary School Diploma; and must have experience coaching/refereeing/playing the specified sport.

  • Valid Standard First Aid/CPR B Certificate (Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance, or the Canadian Ski Patrol), or the ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire.

  • Candidate will have the ability to understand and record statistics, and fouls during Adult League games.

  • Candidate must be organized, pay attention to details and maintain focus throughout the duration of the game.

 

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.

 

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
