SALARY RANGE:           1ST STEP:    $70,270.20 per annum

                                      2ND STEP:   $74,083.10 per annum

                                      JOB RATE:  $77,896.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Traffic Operations, performs field observation studies and analysis data for traffic engineering studies; prepares traffic accident reports. 

  • Prepare all traffic by-laws for approval of council. Update and maintain all consolidated traffic by-law schedules.
  • Administer and manage Traffic Engineering Software collision analysis software and database. Produce statistical summaries for council and committee reports.
  • Maintain statistical records of sign manufacturing costs and compiles cost summaries for budget purposes.
  • Performs field observation studies regarding vehicular volume, speed, capacity and pedestrian traffic; analyses data for traffic engineering studies.
  • Assists in maintenance of computer programs relating to traffic records, inventories and analysis.
  • Arrange for the recovery of costs related to pavement marking placement, sign installation and collision damage to City property.
  • Responds to enquiries from staff and public regarding traffic operations matters.
  • Assists with the design and layout of pavement markings including preparation of plans and field implementation.
  • Manage, update and maintain count management system software.
  • Assist in the scheduling, planning and data downloading of automatic traffic records.
  • Monitor and organize departmental purchases and purchasing records as required.
  • Performs additional similar and related duties as assigned.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

EDUCATION:

  • High School (Grade 12) graduation plus an additional program of over two (2) years and up to three (3) years in Transportation Engineering Technology or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Over six (6) months, up to and including one (1) year related experience. 

REQUIRED LICENCE CERTIFICATION:

  • A valid, non-probationary Ontario Class G licence. 

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Membership or eligibility to obtain membership with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians & Technologists (OACETT).
  • Working knowledge of MS Office & transportation related software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
