LOCATION:  Hybrid Model*– when working onsite, you will report to the location of 8 Nelson Street West.

SALARY GRADE:  5

HIRING SALARY RANGE:  $88,458.00 - $99,516.00 per annum

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE:  $110,573.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Administrative Services , the Coordinator will provide professional support services to the Recreation Division. The Coordinator is responsible for contributing to the decision-making process through an analytic and data driven approach.  This is done through conducting market research, special projects, developing relevant benchmarks and performance measures, and leading procurement activities for the Division. You will provide consultation and advice to your Manager as well as other members of the Recreation Leadership Team as required, ensuring procurement strategies align with operational goals and deliver best value for the City.

Supervision, Leadership and Staff Development

  • Recruit, train, manage, coach and provide guidance to promote effective full and part time employee relations and encourage increased moral, innovation and productivity to meet business needs
  • Develop and implement processes to support program quality and performance monitoring through data analysis and benchmarking
  • Manage adherence to governing legislations and regulations; corporate policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
  • Ensure current self-knowledge of technical skills for staff development

 

Administration

  • Prepare reports for Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Leadership Team which may include the collection and analysis of data, customer satisfaction, revenue and expenses, etc.
  • Manage and review daily, weekly and sessional statistics and checklists
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all Recreation Division procurement activities by guiding purchasing strategies, supporting vendor selection processes, and ensuring policy compliance. Adherence to all mandated deadlines
  • Participation in facility team’s quality assurance program and other special projects.
  • Coordinate payments/documentation for all invoices in accordance with corporate standards

 

Customer Service and Community Development

  • Continuous improvement of customer experience through anticipating, managing and resolving concerns, requests inquires and successes
  • Liaise and develop partnerships with community leaders, groups, sponsors and external groups and agencies
  • Act as a City of Brampton representative on external committees, associations, and working groups to gather information, discuss emerging trends, best practices and challenges, and to develop partnerships
  • Ongoing assessment of community needs through benchmarking and data analysis.
  • Manage community events (including analyzing follow-up reports and debriefing)

 

Program Development

  • Report on trends and areas of growth including future opportunities
  • Form and implement action plans to meet targets and potential growth
  • Assist Recreation Supervisor with marketing and business plans
  • Promote and create awareness of programs and develop strategies to increase customer recruitment and retention

 

Budget

  • Build revenue strategies to increase financial stability
  • Collect, coordinate, analyze, monitor and report budget submissions, actuals and forecast to Supervisor
  • Manage current budget of expenditures related to program area ensure budget compliance meet necessary sign offs and approvals

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma preferably in related field (i.e. Recreation & Leisure, Business, Economics, Finance)

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in recreation programming and/or procurement and project management
  • One year supervisory/team lead experience working with staff

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Excellent public relations skills and ability to effectively deal with the public
  • Knowledge of provincial and other legislative regulations
  • Exposure to budgeting and financial management
  • Proficiency in MS Office

 

Mandatory Requirements

  • Able to work variable, scheduled hours including evenings and weekends
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C
  • Valid Ontario non-probationary Class G Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle
