JOB TITLE:  Facility Clerk, Cemetery

DEPARTMENT:  Community Services

POSTING NUMBER:  106711

HOURS OF WORK:  40 hour workweek

LOCATION:  In-Person– you will report to the location of Cemetery, 10 Wilson Avenue.

SALARY GRADE:  10A

STARTING SALARY:  $1,304.40 per week

JOB TYPE:  Union

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Foreperson, Cemetery Services, provide quality customer service to customers of the Brampton Cemetery including funeral homes, monument dealers, the general public, and city staff, in person, e-mail or on the telephone. This position also performs data entry, data editing and word processing using various applications for parks maintenance management and payroll system. This position also generates appropriate reports, asset tracking, maintains the division’s attendance records and filing system.

  • Provide quality customer service and reception at the Brampton Cemetery Administration Offices.
  • Respond to enquiries and complaints from the public; accurately documents all requests from internal and external customers.
  • Research, interpret and explain information related to the Cemetery By-laws and regulations of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario while adhering to the Funeral Burial & Cremation Services Act.
  • Sell cemetery supplies and services
  • Meet with families and funeral homes to arrange and discuss burial needs.
  • Prepare internal and external correspondence.
  • Input of data related to cemetery record keeping and the Treasury Department.
  • Research and manage cemetery records.
  • Verify and accurately enter all information pertaining to burials, sales, memorials and transfers of plots using various systems/applications, i.e. PeopleSoft, Class, Infor, HOS, etc.
  • Receive and process payments for cemetery supplies and services.
  • Prepare Bank deposits and daily revenue reports.
  • Provide administrative support for seasonal employee hiring and training program.
  • Train part time/seasonal Cemetery clerical staff.
  • Enter staff hours, prepare meeting minutes, reconcile Mastercard, and record/maintain asset inventory for the Cemetery.
  • Log and enter payroll for all cemetery staff.
  • Performs additional similar and related duties as assigned.
  • Assisting foreperson with contract management tracking and communicate with vendors as required

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Over two (2) years, up to and including four (4) years of experience in a cemetery

 

REQUIRED LICENCE CERTIFICATION:

  • Ability to be certified on Cemetarian Operations Management (Cemetarian Certificate Course)
  • Ability to obtain certification of the Ontario Cemetery Sales Representative Course is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Yearly Sales Representative License issued by the Bereavement Authority of Ontario

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Working knowledge of Versatile Records Management Software, Class Point of Sale Access 2 Gov Point of Sale and Peoplesoft HRMS and FPRD is an asset.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of the INFOR(Hansen) Service Request and Work Management System and cemetery support related software programs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
