LOCATION:  Onsite, you will report to the location of Williams Parkway Operations Centre.

SALARY GRADE:  5

HIRING SALARY RANGE:  $88,458.00 - $99,516.00 per annum

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE:  $110,573.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Traffic Outside Services this position co-ordinates traffic outside services activities in support of the operating department’s needs and ensures that all corporate and regulatory standards (i.e. service levels, turnaround, quality, availability, health and safety) are met or exceeded.  Provide daily work direction, guidance and support to traffic services staff.

 

  1. Provide daily supervision of traffic outside services staff and equipment. Is readily available to answer staff questions, provide on-the-job training and clear instructions. Accountable for scheduling and coordination of staff activities to ensure efficient operation while meeting standards and in full compliance of regulations.
  1. Provide leadership by creating programs, schedules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for staff. Ensure SOPs and equipment are up-to-date to maximize productivity without compromising standards and safety. Resolves conflicts and issues with work scheduling.  Escalate complex issues to appropriate level for resolution.
  1. Operational Support. Assist with budget preparation and setting financial controls. Co-ordinates the work scheduling process and liaises with internal and external stakeholders for information purposes and to ensure operational requirements are achieved. Represent function at meetings and as required on committees. Provide information for RFQs and RFPs. Works with consultants and contractors as required to ensure optimal efficiency and delivery of services.  Responsible for the co-ordination of tasks to meet the service and work order requests.
  1. Record Keeping. Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting of a wide range of performance indicators including sign installation for insurance, inventory and cost recoveries. Oversee the sign inventory using a perpetual inventory system and procurement process. Analyzes and prepares reports and updates.  Identifies issues that need to be resolved and consults with Supervisor for proper resolve. Responsible for the tracking, monitoring and completion dates for all service requests and work orders.  Maintains records on inventory, cost recoveries and installations and provides performance indicators for operational needs.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

EDUCATION:

  • Minimum high school (Grade 12) diploma or equivalent, with additional training or certification in traffic operations and/or signs and pavement markings

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years experience in a traffic operations environment, with 2 years experience as a supervisor in a unionized environment is preferred
  • Experience in sign manufacturing is required

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • M.S.A Signs and Markings Level 2 certification
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Ontario Traffic Manuals
  • Ability to understand and document procedures (SOPs)
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety (i.e. WHMIS) regulations
  • Ability to use PC, Microsoft Office
