JOB TITLE: Recreation Policy and Compliance, Co-op Student

DEPARTMENT:  Community Services

NUMBER OF POSITIONS:  1

JOB STATUS & DURATION: Temporary 4-months

HOURS OF WORK:  35-hour workweek / variable hours (Some evening and weekend work may be required to support specific training and development initiatives)

LOCATION:  Hybrid Model – when working onsite, you will report to the location of 8 Nelson Street West

HOURLY RATE: $19.37 - $23.62 (Year 1- Year 4)

JOB TYPE:  Management and Administration

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Compliance, the primary functions are to provide policy and project management services and support to the Community Services team to enhance operational efficiency and cost effectiveness by assisting in creating methods to ensure Departmental, operational, and administrative consistencies. In conjunction with the Coordinator, guide and assist both full and part-time staff in procedural writing and documentation development.  Develop, implement, and execute training and training tools

Work with the Recreation team and other applicable internal partners on policy development, risk management, audits, staff training, stakeholder communication, reporting, and more. The following are indicative of the work that will be required:

    • Document preparation – prepare reports, business cases, presentations, process mapping, etc.
    • Research and analysis – review existing data, perform benchmarking, analyse and interpret data and processes
    • Coordination – assist with trainings, workshops, and meetings
    • Policy implementation – develop, implement and execute training and tools
    • Monitor and adhere – keep track of compliance measures, maintains training catalogues and inventory, maintains centralized depository and tracking

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

EDUCATION:

    • Student must be enrolled in any University or College Co-Op. Proof of enrollment letter will be requested prior to placement offer.
    • A police criminal check will be required (to be paid for by the student).

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

    • Interest in policy and administration
    • Understanding of public policy is an asset.
    • Intermediate level proficiency or better using MS Office Suite.
    • Excellent problem solving, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with attention to detail.
    • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas while collaborating and managing multiple projects.

 

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.

 

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
