AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Supervisor, LOB Planning and Special Projects, the Coordinator, Integrated Services ensures the provision of quality recreation program delivery and customer service excellence to meet current and changing needs of the community. This position is responsible for creating, developing and implementing inclusion recreation programs, services and/or special events that meet the needs and interests of the residents of the City of Brampton. Specifically, this positions oversees the delivery of inclusion recreation programs; assesses and evaluates inclusion recreation programs; and networks, liaises and partners with various stakeholders to coordinate, facilitate and collaborate in the delivery of inclusion recreation programs, services and special events. This position plays an integral role in reducing the barriers to recreation programs within the City of Brampton in order to provide more accessibility and an inclusive recreation environment for individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs.

Supervision, Leadership and Staff Development
- Recruit, train, manage, coach and provide guidance to promote effective full and part time employee relations and encourage increased moral, innovation and productivity to meet business needs
- Provide advice, guidance and direction to recreation staff and volunteers in the delivery of inclusion recreation programs, services and/or special events
- Respond to and assists recreation staff and volunteers with crisis support and/or physical/ behaviour interventions during the delivery of recreation, when required
- Form action plan to ensure program quality assurance
- Manage adherence to governing legislations and regulations; corporate policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
- Evaluate training needs, and manage execution of staff trainings, orientations and meetings
- Ensure current self-knowledge of technical skills for staff development
- Visit the City’s various recreation facilities to oversee inclusion recreation programs and services, completes facility scans, and responds to various requests/ concerns from Recreation Staff and program participants/ family members of program participants
Administration
- Review documentation of incident/accidents reports and manage follow-up accordingly, applying appropriate follow-up actions and guidance with teams, volunteers and customers; modifying programs and services to ensure safely operating programs and services.
- Participate in preparing grant proposals and/or developing fundraising initiatives/ projects to generate funds for distribution to individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs requiring financial assistance to support recreation service fees
- Act as a City of Brampton representative on external committees, associations, and working groups to gather information, discuss emerging trends, best practices and challenges, and to develop partnerships
- Prepare reports for Recreation Supervisor which may include the collection and analysis of data, customer satisfaction, revenue and expenses, etc.
- Manage and review daily, weekly and sessional statistics and checklists
- Manage membership extensions, suspensions and payroll verification
- Adherence to all mandated deadlines
- Participation in facility team’s quality assurance program
- Coordinate payments/documentation for all invoices in accordance to corporate standards
Customer Service and Community Development
- Continuous improvement of customer experience through anticipating, managing and resolving concerns, requests inquires and successes
- Liaise with community leaders, groups, sponsors and external groups
- Develop partnerships with various agencies, businesses and organizations serving individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs to acquire funding for various projects
- Act as a point of contact and networks and liaises with City Branches/ Departments, organizations, municipalities, government agencies, social service agencies, school boards, the general public, elected officials, and other stakeholders regarding inclusion recreation programs related matters
- Promote and creates awareness of inclusion recreation programs, services and/or special events within the City of Brampton
- Ongoing assessment of community needs
- Manage community events (including analyzing follow-up reports and debriefing)
- Develop strategies to increase customer recruitment and retention
Program Development
- Assess and evaluate existing recreation programs and services to determine the level of inclusion/ adaptation available to individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs
- Review recreation programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations and legislation, such as the Accessibility for Ontarians Disability Act (AODA)
- Develop and recommend strategies to the Recreation Supervisor to reduce barriers to recreation programs for individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs.
- Network with various internal and external stakeholders to assess inclusion recreation needs and interests in order to develop applicable programs
- Create, develop, coordinate and implement inclusion recreation programs, services, and special events for individuals with disabilities
- Report on trends and areas of growth including future opportunities
- Manage quality programming through ongoing program visits
- Manage program development and brochure development processes
- Form and implement action plans to meet targets and potential growth
- Assist Recreation Supervisor with marketing and business plan
- Manage internal marketing of programs within community centre
- Assist individuals with disabilities, unique needs and/or families in selecting appropriate programs and/or level of support required to participate in recreation programs
Budget
- Build revenue strategies to increase financial stability
- Collect, coordinate, analyze, monitor and report budget submissions, actuals and forecast to Supervisor
- Manage current budget of expenditures related to program area ensure budget compliance meet necessary sign offs and approvals
SELECTION CRITERIA:
EDUCATION:
- Post-secondary degree or a diploma preferably in the following related fields; therapeutic recreation, mental health, behavioural sciences, social work, psychology, nursing, disability studies or a related discipline
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years experience in recreation programming and/or facility management and working with individuals with disabilities; One year supervisory/team lead experience working with staff and volunteers
- Demonstrated experience utilizing behaviour management techniques and physical intervention techniques
- Demonstrated experience working with the families of individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs
- Demonstrated experience providing direct inclusive programming and/or implementing program adaptations to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
- Working knowledge and understanding of disabilities and unique needs and related practices and ideologies
- Working knowledge of various disabilities and associated barriers, behaviour management techniques, physical intervention techniques, and family development/ dynamics theories
- Demonstrated ability to effectively respond to and accommodate individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential, sensitive, and/or controversial information
- General knowledge of federal and provincial financial aids and supports for individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs
- Advanced knowledge of standards, regulations and legislation specifically the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Human Rights Code
- Excellent public relations skills and ability to effectively deal with the public
- Knowledge of provincial and other legislative regulations pertinent to program discipline
- Exposure to budgeting and financial management
- Proficiency in MS Office
Mandatory Requirements
- Able to work variable, scheduled hours including evenings and weekends
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C
- Valid Ontario non-probationary Class G Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle
