LOCATION: Animal Enforcement and Bylaw Services Building
HOURLY RATE: $19.45

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Reporting to the Animal Services Supervisor, this position provides project,  program, and/or administrative support to the division in the field with regards to pet licensing and outreach.  Ensure efficient and effective delivery of program by attending residences within our community while providing education and enforcement initiatives. Maintain a positive, tactful demeanor in confrontational situations with the public, making on-the-spot decisions.  Conduct investigations, collect and document evidence, issue notices, facilitate, and participate in community outreach

  • Provide program assistance in support of divisional initiatives, programs, processes, projects, and events. Participates in working groups and brainstorming sessions to provide input.
  • Perform quantitative/qualitative research to identify information on programming as requested
  • Respond to customer inquiries/concerns and provide information regarding programs and services to meet divisional service standards
  • Delivers and discusses contentious information/directives which may be resisted and uses mediation, conflict resolution, and calming and de-escalation techniques
  • Performs door-to-door canvassing to determine if there are pet(s), which require licensing and maintains an up to date map indicating the completed areas
  • Issue notices; warning and penalty. And ensure required remediation is performed and completed.
  • Assist with administrative and sectional program duties, including correspondence, documentation, record keeping, filing, minute taking, preparing memos, reports, and presentation materials
  • Process and accept payments for point of sale transactions
  • Assist in the implementation of division projects and operations
  • Participates in working groups and brainstorming sessions to provide input and ideas
  • Assist with data entry and data management
  • Communicate and follow up with business partners; both internal and external, as required to complete tasks / projects on time
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Animal care and services
  • Must be currently enrolled in a fulltime post-secondary program, returning for the upcoming fall semester.
  • Class G Ontario Drivers’ License an asset
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and effective time management and organizational skills
  • Experience with Chameleon software considered an asset
