DEPARTMENT:  Camera Processing Centre

HOURS OF WORK:  35-hour workweek

LOCATION:  Hybrid Model*– when working onsite, you will report to the location of 175 Sandalwood Parkway.

SALARY GRADE:  8

STARTING SALARY:  $1,018.50 per week

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Reporting to the Supervisor, Automated Speed Enforcement, the Automated Enforcement Officer will organize and review records and evidence relating to automated speed enforcement, issue Penalty Notices and Certificate of Offence, issue certified statements and mail documents in compliance with City of Brampton applicable regulations, the Ontario Highway Traffic Act and Provincial Offences Act.

 

  • Conducts investigations of automated enforcement equipment records and photographic evidence associated with Automated Speed Enforcement operations to ensure compliance with the Highway Traffic Act, Provincial Offenses Act and City of Brampton by-laws and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Investigates potential infractions of statues, regulations and by-laws regulating the use of Automated Enforcement equipment to determine whether infractions occurred.
  • Confirm by-laws designating Community Safety Zone including specified hours, speed limits, days and months when the designation is in effect, confirms street signage is properly erected in accordance with regulations, and confirms Certificate of Accuracy for automated speed cameras.
  • Collects and documents evidentiary photographs and prepares certified statements and makes written notes.
  • Issues Penalty Notices and completes certified statements.
  • Maintains and operates computerized equipment and downloads, compiles and interprets all field monitoring data.
  • Prepares correspondence and reports for Supervisor, Automated Enforcement and Manager, Automated Enforcement.
  • Attends training sessions and is required to become designated as a Provincial Offences Officer by the Province of Ontario and assists with the training of new Automated Enforcement Officers.
  • Interact with other Automated Enforcement Officers and supervisory and program staff regarding operations, system or offence related specifics.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

  • High school (Grade 12) graduation, plus an additional program over one year and up to two years in General Arts and Sciences or equivalent education and experience
  • Over 6 months and up to and including 1 year of related experience.
  • Ability to obtain Provincial Offence Officer (POO) designation.
  • Considerable experience using MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Highway Traffic Act and Provincial Offences Act.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
