JOB TITLE: Arts & Culture Program Assistant II

DEPARTMENT:  Community Services

NUMBER OF POSITIONS:  1

JOB STATUS & DURATION:  Part time

HOURS OF WORK:  up to 24 hour workweek 

LOCATION: You will report to various locations such as: Snelgrove Community Centre, The Rose Studio, Cyril Clark theatre, Lester B. Pearson (LBP) theatre, etc.

HOURLY RATE:  $18.11

JOB TYPE:  Management and Administration

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 Reporting to the Education & Outreach Coordinator, provides program and administrative support to the division, assisting in day-to-day duties. Ensures effective delivery of programs, services and responds to general inquiries received by the section/division.

    • Support the arts & culture program team on the planning, development, and execution of arts & culture programming.
    • Provide a high level of front-line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
    • Respond to customer inquiries/concerns and provide information regarding programs and services, and escalates to appropriate City staff as required
    • Provide administrative support as related to the area of work, including filing, minute taking, preparing memos and formatting reports
    • Maintain records, documentation, and prepare reports as required
    • Assist with data entry and tracking
    • Assist and provide support with divisional programs and special events
    • Provide program support as related to the area of work, including registration and attendance, supervision, ad-hoc instruction, preparing materials, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment
    • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation 
    • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
    • Understand and adhere to Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards
    • Attend meetings/training as required
    • Performs other duties as assigned 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • Demonstrated working knowledge of one or more areas of the arts
    • Minimum one year experience working with children and youth, and/or adults, in arts programming, preferred

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

    • Minimum 18 years old
    • Effective customer service skills
    • Effective time management and organizational skills
    • Intermediate computer skills as related to area of work

 

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.

 

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
