JOB TITLE: Ninja Parkour and Rock Climbing Supervisor

DEPARTMENT:  Community Services

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: Several

JOB STATUS & DURATION:  Part-time, seasonal and temporary

HOURS OF WORK: 24 hour workweek / variable hours

LOCATION: Ken Giles Recreation Centre

HOURLY RATE:  $17.80

POSTING DATE:  January 24, 2023

CLOSING DATE:  December 31, 2023

 

 

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer/Recreation Coordinator, plan, organize and implement a high quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants. Provide supervision, guidance and coaching to staff and volunteers. Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of registered participants at all times. Provides direction to Ninja Parkour and Rock Climbing instructors.

 

  • Supervise, coach and evaluate staff
  • Assist with promotion of programs
  • Assist with development, delivering and documentation of staff training and meetings
  • Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating programs for all levels of participants
  • Ensure participants and staff are equipped with all mandatory rock wall equipment during the program
  • Ensure staff are following program plans and legislative requirements
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Handle program feedback in a professional manner by providing exceptional customer service
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (i.e. staff and program schedules, reports, incident/accident reports, and waivers)
  • Complete daily inspections of all course elements and rock wall equipment (i.e. helmets, harnesses, belays, and climbing holds)
  • To ensure that all safety procedures and opening and closing check lists are completed, before and after programs.
  • Monitor the use of equipment and supplies ensuring that there are no damages/tears throughout, conduct inventory counts and re-stock as needed
  • Maintain ongoing communication with all staff including the Recreation Programmer/Coordinator
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings/training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in rock climbing

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Excellent indoor climbing knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge in Ninja Course and Parkour elements
  • Climbing wall facilitator Level 1, considered an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification and QUEST 2 Certification, considered an asset
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.)
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.

 

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
