FORESTRY, HORTICULTURE AND CEMETERY MANAGER

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Director, Parks Maintenance & Forestry, this role provides longer term planning as well as budgeting, operational and staffing leadership to maintain sustainable service levels involving Urban Forestry, Horticulture Services and Cemetery Services throughout the City of Brampton. This role also provides direction, expert technical advice and suggested operational direction to the Planning Department (includes environmental initiatives), senior management and Council where Forestry, Horticulture or Cemetery Services are involved. As a member of the Parks management team, this position is also required to participate in the decision making process for all aspects of the Parks Department’s operational activities and direction.
Operational Planning and Service improvement
Provide and justify any long term operational planning initiatives designed to ensure reliable service delivery within the 3 separate operations under this position promoting fiscally responsible and sustainable operations. Manage automotive inventories, fuels and service activities.
Monitor and develop individual direct reports to ensure each person’s capabilities are being effectively utilized and they are encouraged/motivated to search for operational changes that maximize efficiencies.
Financial Preparations, Accountability and Monitoring
Create, monitor and propose changes to budgets that are capable of meeting current corporate needs and service expectations
Participate in regular divisional management meetings, providing input and insight to resolve issues, determine operational direction and promote consistency both departmentally and corporately
Corporate Leadership through Technical expertise
Provide planning and environmental direction for the City to ensure their initiatives and long term direction (Arboriculture and Horticulture) is both sustainable and addresses current and projected service level expectations.

**Starting Salary: $98,494.00 per annum
