Job Description

Position Duties:

Under the direction of the Coordinator/Operations Coordinator, maintain quality snow on the ski hill and tube park to provide a high quality for experience for all users.

  • Responsible for operating and maintaining snowmaking equipment including snowmaking systems, pump house, groomer gararge and ski lifts.
  • Assist with developing, delivering and documenting staff training and meetings
  • Maintain ramp areas of lifts, towlines, signage and ramps approved standards
  • Responsible for opening and closing surface lifts including set up, take down and deceleration mats
  • Inform immediate supervisor of any unusual or improper occurrences within the operation of the ramps or change in weather or ground conditions that may affect the guests’ safety
  • Assume responsibility for the ski hill and other facilities in the absence of full time staff
  • Maintain snowmaking equipment; operate compressors, water pump, HKD snow guns, and complete hourly logs
  • Operate the grooming machinery and attachments in a safe and efficient manner
  • Groom ski runs and tube park on a daily basis or as directed
  • Report all concerns, accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and appropriate action
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (ie. Staff schedules, payroll, equipment log books, incident/accident reports)
  • Provide excellent customer service including explaining how to use the slopes safely
  • Ensure that the approved operating procedures are followed in accordance with the lift operations manual
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff
  • Travel between work sites during shift
  • Attend meetings/training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Ability to work under adverse winter weather conditions
  • Able to handle physical demands of the job
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a ski hill environment
  • Valid “G” Ontario driver’s licence and ability to obtain City of Brampton Vehicle Operator’s Permit
  • Ability to obtain TSSA Ski Lift Mechanic –in-training (SLM-T) designation
  • Ability to obtain a City of Brampton Equipment Operator’s permit
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C / AED from an accredited organization
  • Submit or agree to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
 ** Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
