Job Description

Position Duties:

Under the direction of the Recreation Programmer/Recreation Coordinator, responsible for planning and implementing a high quality First Responder program.

  • Assist with recruiting, training, supervising, coaching and evaluating ski patrol staff
  • Assist Develop, deliver and document staff training and meetings
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Observe and educate users of proper equipment requirements and safe use of park
  • Patrol all areas of park to ensure safe conditions and look for unsafe equipment or activity
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (eg. attendance, incident/accident reports, first aid checklists, opening and closing procedures)
  • Hill sweep (start and end of shift) and ongoing inspections of ski hill to ensure indoor/outdoor grounds are in safe condition
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and action
  • Monitor the use of equipment and supplies, conduct inventory counts and re-stock as needed
  • Check and maintain first aid kits and toboggans daily
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all times
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards, including the Alpine Responsibility Code, for all participants and staff
  • Attend meetings/training as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned


 
Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
  • Strong skier or snowboarder demonstrated at on hill audition
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C / AED from an accredited organization
  • Canadian Ski Patrol Certification (C.S.P.)
  • Submit or agree to a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills

 ** Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
